The City of Bridgeport is partnering with the FBI, First Tee of North Central WV, and Take 25 to host KIDS DAY at Bridgeport City Park on May 21, starting at 6:00 pm. The FBI will be providing free digital fingerprinting for all kids and will provide their parents an ID Card on the spot. The Fire Department will have Fire Extinguisher Training and the Police Department will have Child Safety Seat Demonstrations, Driving Impaired Goggles and Sydney. The two departments will be bringing an ambulance, fire truck, police car, and motorcycles as part of the “Touch a Truck” for the kids to check out.
The First Tee of WV delivers its life skills curriculum with the concentration on growing the game of golf to young people (generally ages 5 to 14 years of age). They will be on hand with golf activities to demonstrate to the kids.
Take 25 is a national child safety campaign of the National Center for Missing Exploited Children encouraging families to take 25 minutes to talk to their children about safety and abduction prevention. The goal of Take 25 is to heighten awareness about child safety issues. Educational materials will be available at the event for parents to take to help educate them about these issues.
On Thursday May 23rd at 7:00pm at the Waldomore, W. Pike St and 4th St, in Clarksburg there will be an open Genealogy seminar and workshop. The seminar will discuss how to get started, how to record your work, and how to make sure your results are correct. Presenting will be Bob Fish of Parkersburg who is an expert and Christinia Rumbach, who is also an expert. Following the seminar, volunteer genealogists will be available to meet with anyone who is interested in discussing their own lineage research. On June 1st from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Quiet Dell United Methodist church there will be a car Truck and Bike show, there will be a $10 registration fee, and the trophies will be handed out at 3:00pm! There will be a Hot Dog Sale and door prizes an activities for the kids! The first 50 kids will recieve a dash plaque. For More info call Rob Johnson at (304) 842-8582! This is all to raise money for Down Syndrome awareness!
The NWS Peace Program is in the need of Host familes in the area to host high school international exchange students. The students come with medical insurance, and spending money, you just provide a loving home, 3 meals a bed and an expierence. Host families are not paid but may claim $50.00 per month charitable contribution on their income tax. The students have to be matched by June 1st. The Lewis County senior Center has a trip planned to the Foxwoods and Newport October 5-10 2013. Included is 5 nights lodging, including 3 consecutive nights in the Two trees Inn at Foxwoods Resort, 8 meals.
